We have put together answers for some commonly asked questions.
If you can't find the information you are looking for, just email us!
- Will my email campaign be sent to named teachers on their personal school email addresses, or to the school office email address?
We send your email content to named teachers or other named contacts in schools, on their personal school email address where available (and these are the numbers we quote) - i.e. to [email protected] – rather than the office@ or admin@ types of generic school email addresses.
And since we hold the personal school email address for over 850,000 named teachers, senior leaders and facilities staff in UK schools and nurseries – our personal school email coverage is the largest and most comprehensive teachers' personal school email service available in the UK.
Yes, we also hold the generic school email address for all UK schools too, which we can supply to you – or we can include in your email campaign if you want us to.
- Is Schools Marketing Company GDPR compliant and registered with the Information Commissioner?
Yes, we are GDPR and PECR compliant, registered with the Information Commissioner (ICO) since 2005 and our register entry number is Z9153578.
No, you can send us your HTML email content in your own format, you don’t have to conform to a template. We test all HTML files you send us to make sure they render/view properly for respondents, across the most frequently used email clients – and we send samples to you for checking, so you can ensure your content looks as it is meant it to look before it is sent out.
HTML emails are coded in a similar way to web pages, but are coded specifically for email, to ensure your email looks good whatever email platform it is viewed on. Most business and consumer emails are rendered as HTML emails, whereas a plain text email is an email that only includes text and may offer limited design and functionality.
There are also emails that look like plain text, but that are actually HTML text emails – which means you get the clean, simplicity of a text email (that looks like a personal letter for instance) but with short links and downloads that look neat – without the full link URL (http:// etc) needing to be shown.
A responsive email is an email that has been coded to look good and respond to any device it is viewed on - whether it's a desktop, tablet, or mobile phone. The email automatically adapts to screen sizes and types, allowing subscribers to read emails “on the go”. This is more convenient because there is no need to scroll left and right, or shrink text to fit on different screen sizes – as the email has already been coded to auto-adapt for you
Your email sender 'From' name (also known as the email alias) will be shown as the company or brand name in teachers inboxes, which is sent from our Information for Schools email servers (for transparency reasons) which UK schools have known for 18+ years.
We ask for your content a minimum of 3 working days before your scheduled email send date, to allow time to set it up and send samples to you for sign off. We can often work quicker than this though – so if you are in a hurry just ask us!
Our service is very simple. We set your HTML artwork up for you, or at extra cost we can build your HTML responsive email from scratch using your text and images supplied.
We send you a proof to check and sign-off so you can make sure it looks as you want it to look, we select your chosen audience of teachers and other school contacts, and we send your email campaign to them on your scheduled date.
